Position Summary:

The Press Manager for Cuomo for NYC will interact daily with local and national members of the media, setting up candidate interviews, staffing candidate events, and helping to develop messaging guidance. 

When at a desk, the press manager will also organize and disseminate news of the day and about the mayoral race to the campaign team, fill out questionnaires about the candidate, organize and share pending interview requests, and jump into every aspect of campaign life whenever needed.

When out on the campaign trail, the press manager will visit every corner of all five boroughs, sometimes with the candidate, sometimes in advance of him. In addition to meeting the needs of the press at these locations, the press manager will collect assets for social media and coordinate among the various campaign teams.

Position Requirements:

• Residency: Must reside full-time in New York City for the duration of the campaign.
• Technology: Must have a personal laptop, cell phone, and any additional tools necessary to complete daily responsibilities.
• Media Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with members of the press, either as a journalist or as a communications staffer in a political campaign or government office.
• Political Acumen: Deep familiarity with New York City’s political landscape, key figures, and voter priorities; strong working knowledge of influential stakeholders in the NYC mayoral race.
• Writing Excellence: Demonstrated exceptional writing and copyediting skills.
• Independence: Able to follow direction the first time and work with minimal supervision.
• Adaptability: Comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced and high-pressure environment; maintains flexibility and a positive attitude under stress.
