North Shore Strategies is seeking a Paid-Canvass Director to lead a voter contact operation across Buffalo and Hamburg, NY. The Paid-Canvass Director will oversee the training, management, and performance of canvassing staff while ensuring the program meets ambitious voter contact and turnout goals. This role is ideal for a highly organized, metrics-driven field professional with experience managing paid canvassing operations in fast-paced campaign environments.

About the Role
As the Paid-Canvass Director, you will manage all aspects of the paid canvassing program, including daily field operations, canvasser performance, reporting systems, and quality control. You will work closely with campaign leadership to execute voter contact strategy focused on persuasion and turnout. The ideal candidate is a strong manager who can motivate teams, maintain accountability, and adapt quickly to changing campaign needs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute a comprehensive paid canvassing program to maximize voter contact and turnout.
  • Train and manage paid canvassers and team leads.
  • Oversee daily field operations, including turf distribution, shift management, staging locations, and reporting procedures.
  • Monitor canvasser productivity, data quality, and performance metrics to ensure campaign goals are met.
  • Conduct regular quality control checks and in-field coaching to improve canvasser effectiveness and message delivery.
  • Track daily metrics and maintain accurate data using campaign reporting tools; communicate regularly with senior leadership on progress and recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot operational, logistical, and personnel issues in real time.
  • Ensure staff professionalism, punctuality, and adherence to campaign guidelines and messaging.
  • Foster a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
Qualifications
  • One to three (1 - 3) years of professional work experience, including at least one to two campaign cycles in field organizing or paid canvassing operations.
  • Prior experience managing paid canvassing staff required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate large field teams.
  • Experience overseeing voter contact programs and tracking performance metrics.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with VAN, MiniVAN, Reach, and other voter contact tools.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and solve problems in a fast-paced campaign environment.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Access to a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • NY campaign experience preferred, but not required.
