North Shore Strategies seeks motivated and professional Political Petitioners to support our grassroots efforts in New York State, primarily in NYC, Westchester, and Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties). The ideal candidate is an outgoing and effective communicator, passionate about civic engagement, and committed to advancing Democratic causes. Political Petitioners play a critical role in building public support and ensuring the success of campaigns by engaging directly with voters and gathering petition signatures to get Democrats onto the ballot.
About the Role
As a Political Petitioner with North Shore Strategies, you will be at the forefront of our grassroots efforts, engaging directly with voters to build awareness and support for Democratic candidates and initiatives. Your primary responsibility will be collecting petition signatures to ensure candidates and issues appear on the ballot, a critical step in the democratic process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engage directly with voters in-person to educate them about candidates, initiatives, and ballot measures, primarily through canvassing and bulk gathering.
- Collect valid petition signatures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all legal and campaign requirements.
- Represent North Shore Strategies and our campaigns professionally and courteously during all voter interactions.
- Track and record daily progress, submitting completed petitions and reports to the Field Manager.
- Meet or exceed daily and weekly signature collection goals while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
- Attend mandatory training sessions and team meetings to stay informed on campaign messaging and best practices.
- Foster positive interactions to build trust and support among community members for campaign initiatives.
Qualifications
- Must be registered to vote in New York State as a Democrat.
- Minimum of 3 shifts worked a week
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and connect with diverse groups of people.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable working outdoors and standing for extended periods.
- Previous experience in canvassing, customer service, or sales is a plus but not required.
- A commitment to progressive values and a passion for civic engagement.
- Ability to meet deadlines and achieve daily and weekly goals.
