About the Role
Cuomo for NYC is seeking a dynamic and strategic Constituency Director to lead engagement with key community, issue-based, and identity-based constituencies across New York City. The ideal candidates are experienced political professionals with strong relationships in their communities, deep cultural competency, and a proven ability to build trust and mobilize support. This role is central to ensuring the campaign authentically connects with diverse voices and drives coalition momentum.
Primary Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, grassroots organizations, advocacy groups, faith leaders, labor partners, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and execute constituency-specific outreach strategies aligned with the campaign’s overall message and goals.
- Organize constituency-focused events, roundtables, and listening sessions to elevate community priorities.
- Serve as a key liaison between the campaign and local leaders to foster long-term relationships and ensure campaign responsiveness.
- Support earned media opportunities and surrogate engagement within constituency communities.
- Coordinate closely with the Field and Communications teams to align organizing, messaging, and visibility efforts.
- Track outreach activities and maintain detailed records of stakeholder engagement.
- Provide strategic input to senior staff on community issues, sensitivities, and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in community organizing, political campaigns, or advocacy.
- Established relationships with community leaders, advocacy organizations, or constituency groups in New York City.
- Proven ability to build trust, credibility, and long-term relationships across diverse communities.
- Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate community priorities into actionable campaign initiatives.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills, with cultural competency across a wide range of communities.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Political judgment and discretion when handling sensitive issues.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
